September 2025

What a pleasure to have had the Ivamys with us for a week here in Zambia! Bryan was once on our NZ trust board, June is a teacher, and we have appreciated their friendship and support over the past 16 years.
We are grateful to the Beit Trust for approving a grant of GBP 40,000 (NZ$ 91,420) for our next building at Limapela Cedric’s. This building will include three classrooms and storage for the expanding secondary department. We are also grateful to a private donor for helping to reduce the shortfall in funding. The site has now been cleared and the builders have started on the foundation.

A careers day was held at Limapela Cedric’s last week. Having aspirations is important for our young people, but we are keenly aware that finding jobs at the end of training is a monumental challenge here in Zambia.
The Kafakumba Singers had a very enjoyable trip to Chengelo School, Mkushi, over the weekend of 14 September. They presented a new oratorio that I have written titled In the Beginning — a setting of the creation story as found in the book of Genesis.
We all remain grateful for your interest, prayers and practical support.
— Matthew and Alison Raymond
It has been a truly inspiring journey that we have taken in this last month travelling through Africa, and visiting Zambia where we stayed with the Raymonds.
Matthew and Alison Raymond were our hosts for eight days. To witness the relationships and connections the Raymonds have with the various communities they are involved in is testament to the belief that God is present among all things, and can indeed work through us to create hope for a better tomorrow.
It was an honour and pleasure to visit both schools (Limapela Cedric’s and Luyando) administered by the Limapela Foundation. We were especially blessed to witness one of the senior classes at work, preparing for their upcoming examinations, despite it being the school holidays. The students are respectful, engaged and enthusiastic to learn.
At both schools we were able to see the facilities and what has been developed through hard work, donations and commitment. The challenges these children face are huge, compared to the western world, as God calls us each day to provide for the ‘least of these’.
In order for the Limapela Foundation to continue flourishing and empower these children, we are reminded that "those who can... should". We can do this through the Limapela Foundation.
As the Raymonds approach the end of their tenure, we must not and should not forget there is still much to do.
